October 19, 2007 16:24 - How to Make Money with Cheese

Checking my site stats I saw that someone had found the Work at Home Toolkit using the phrase ''how to make money with cheese".  It made me chuckle (no pun intended), but it must be because of my 'No Cheese Here' tagline!

But then I thought, well, that person was looking for something! What or who are they, why do they need to know about making money from cheese?

Since an upcoming section of the site is going to be where I brainstorm niche ideas, aka the Idea Factory (an old nickname) ...I thought I'd try it out!

So, if that person should ever stumble across this site again, here are some ideas for making money with cheese as your niche subject...

Be an Infopreneur

Write about cheese to show your existing knowledge/expert status on whatever it is that interests you about it! By just 'writing', you can then monetize with Google Adsense ads that will target themselves on your page to be cheese-related...so that visitors click on them for more information and you get a percentage of the advertising fee. See also my ideas around 'Hawes' below...

Be an Affiliate

Promote companies or products connected to cheese, cheese making, cooking with cheese... Might be a tough one to find products but maybe Amazon for books/cookery/kitchen stuff, online supermarkets/shops (need to find 'x' cheese, they sell it at 'y')

Local Business/Trade

I'm thinking farm shops/organic box schemes/local traders - get your wares online and share what you know about your products - how the cheese you supply is made, the dairy the milk comes from, even the cows! Make it homely and personal, people like that, especially those who like to know where their food comes from, animal welfare etc.

Service Provider

hmmm more difficult. Cheese chef? :-) Tied into the local services...how about education? I once went on a school trip to a cheese makers in the Yorkshire Dales - showing us all how it's made, maybe your service could be school visits to dairies/farms. That reminds me (you can see I'm truly brainstorming here!) ... when looking at niches, think 'out of the box' as they say...in this case, think 'beyond the cheese itself' ... the place it's made, tourism... There's a famous dairy in Hawes, North Yorkshire who make Wensleydale cheese - now, Hawes is a popular place, you could write all about the town and the surrounding Dales, places to visit, pubs, places to stay and eat ... You could even bring in Wallace & Gromit - the famous Wensleydale cheese lovers! (edit - in searching for the pic for this post, I discover they actually have merchandised Wensleydale cheese!!!

"...the Wensleydale cheese factory was strugging at the time and almost went into bankruptcy. The success of Wallace And Gromit brought the factory back from the brink and they are currently a thriving dairy!" Quoted from here

Think I'll stop now - feel free to add your own comments below, for cheese-niche seekers :-)

Remember though, whatever your approach, however you choose to monetize your knowledge or expertise, you need to remember that you can't monetize anything if you don't have TRAFFIC.

You need people coming to your site - no people? Forget the money .

How do you GET traffic? --> Write good content!
