Online Freelance Writing Jobs
Online freelance writing jobs have opened up a global marketplace for writers and 'would-be' writers. Regarding sucessful websites, the word is out that 'content is king'- and preferably 'original' content at that. This section of the site looks at how freelance writing could be a great 'work from home opportunity', despite there being a whole range of services out there that seem to suggest freelance writers are becoming redundant.
Most webmasters should now appreciate that 'content is king'. Realising they need to give surfers 'information' in order to get 'liked by the search engines', many have proceeded to fill their sites with free articles from article directories, which they can use on their sites as long as information about the writer stays intact. However, the search engines frown upon duplicate content, so some Webmasters choose to use 'Private Label Rights' (PLR) articles where they can change the content or use it in any way they like, so as to make it 'original'. Therefore, we now have lots of 'PLR' membership sites offerring Webmasters a guaranteed number of articles per month for a fee.
This is all very well, but editing PLR articles can be just as time consuming as writing the article yourself ... so along comes Content Generating Software that will churn out 'original' articles for you by swapping out phrases and paragraphs to make the article unique - and this is usually a great deal cheaper than hiring a freelance writer!
But, if all this can be done automatically, why am I saying there's a growing marketplace for freelance writers?Well ...
- Turn things on their head a bit, and use 'article churning' to your advantage as a freelance writer
- Someone has to write good articles in the first place to fill the article directories and PLR sites
- If you are a quality writer getting great exposure online, you may be 'spotted' and land work from somewhere that will hire you on a regular basis or for a good project
I realise this is all a bit basic, and there will be sites out there with far better information than what I'm writing here. But my point is to show you that there are a good few ways to 'get' these online freelance writing jobs, whether you are a professional writer/journalist or a college mum who 'can write'. Thanks to the internet, there *can* be opportunities for everyone, at all levels of writing ability.
Examples of online freelance writing jobs...(and chances are you will combine all of them!)
- Sign up at one of the freelance job sites, such as the Freelance Work Exchange with their hugely popular $2.95 trial to see the thousands of 'online freelance writing jobs' available
- Start your own content website about being a freelance writer, how to write etc. - and earn through Google Adsense, affiliate commissions, your own infoproduct sales and coaching programmes.
- Advertise yourself by submitting lots of short pieces to the article directories, with your details being posted wherever your articles are used (You see, rather than 'unique content' being the kiss of death for free article directories, perhaps it will work like this: the more articles keep being submitted, the less chance of duplication and the happier Webmasters will be!?)
- Use the same 'article churning' software that the Webmasters use to offer your own 'unique' content to the article directories, Webmasters, PLR membership sites, or maybe even your OWN membership site
You can probably tell I am not a writer. Yet, I *am* a writer, because I write content for my websites. I have dabbled with article directories, and PLR sites...and I have just purchased some software that will help me create original versions of my articles.
In fact, this very page will probably be edited down and 'churned' so that I can send off 'similar-yet-different' content to the article directories. I could also offer these to others as original articles as part of my own PLR deal.
However, I have also been known to hire freelance writers to tackle the jobs I don't want to do, or cannot do, but I generally credit them too because I don't feel right pretending it's mine!!! I was always a little disappointed to learn that the top 'Gurus' do not actually write their own stuff, they have their own copywriters or ghostwriters who spin their magic into the Guru's sales pages or eBooks.
