I am a proud 'Site Build It!' user for my websites - everything you need in one control panel and it works.
But, it takes 'time' to build your website and add your own content - and while this is something I would stress is excellent practice for an excellent visitor focussed site, many people are put off my this approach.
So, they turn to the promise of 'get rich quick' and buy into the many 'Adsense Ready' packages out there. I have nearly done it myself, lots of times. Then I stop and think, mmmm so I buy the package ... then what?!?
These New Videos SHOW You What to Do
For a few months now I have been following a chap called JP Schoeffel who runs a free "ethical marketer's club" over at ethiccash.com.
He has just released a series of free 'live case study' videos that show him starting a money-making website from scratch and following it's progress, step-by-step. You literally see each step he takes - right down to buying the domain name!
You get to witness how a new website turns into a revenue generator ... in less than one month.
You see EVERYTHING:
AdSense earnings
Affiliate earnings
Traffic generated
Search engine spidering
He is releasing the videos in stages, and so far I have seen how this brand new site has been pre-filled with free content, got more traffic than one of my sites that's been up for months, AND generated $20 in Adsense and affiliate commissions in less than 3 days.
So, I thought right, lets try this out and follow what he does.
Thing is though, the separate tools he uses are costly when you add them all together - so I am sure he is leading up to a sale of some product that will bring everything together or something...but for now, I am going to integrate his video instruction with what I already have available to me via Site Build It.
This way, I can also evaluate the whole 'plug and play' site concept against the more 'slow and steady' ethic from SiteSell.com - something I want to do so that I can compare and see for myself, so I can advise my visitors best.
His first video shows you how to select your niche, keywords, domain name, content and graphics, then create your pages and upload them. He uses his own nifty tool called the Page Generator, which is available free if you sign up to one of his other products.
While 'some' tools here are free, some need to be paid for ... and I don't want to pay out when I can use what I have.
I already have extra hosting over at 1and1 and I can get cheap domains there too (1.99 per year for a .co.uk for the purpose of testing this is fine by me!)
I don't have an 'auto page generator' though, but since this is free with his Niches in a Box product AND the main aim of that product is to provide you with complete website each month, I have pondered for about 48 hours as to whether to spend the $97 and join up for that. I talked it over with a friend and came to the conclusion that, based on the evidence in the videos, I should be able to at least break even and make the $97 back in Adsense revenue AND I can cancel before the end of the month soooo, I have just signed up and am now a member of 'Niches in a Box' (you do NOT need to buy this, I'm just using that because it's the cheapest and easiest way for me to test this).
To help me decide, I ran a few keywords that he used on his 'October' site through my 'Brainstormer' from Site Build It! - this shows me the demand, supply and profitability of keywords and I 'thought' that the trading keywords would not have good profitability but I was surprised that they did! So that swung me, and I joined up. You won't be able to use the Brainstormer if you aren't signed up to Site Build It! ... but if you want to see the power of this tool, check out this Site Build It! (and the good news was that I actually got 2 months' readymade websites because the old one on 'Trading' has ended and the new one on 'Self Improvement' is in for November ... but he gives a link for a few days so that you can still download the previous month's site! How great is that! I really wanted the 'Trading' one !!!)
So, now I need to go pick a domain name, install all my affiliate codes using the free Installer and upload the site ....
I will come back here and post my results just like he has done (any earnings, traffic etc) and observations, good and bad :-)

November 21, 2006 10:25 - Google Adsense Secrets - Video Demo Makes Life Easier
Google Adsense "secrets" sell by the bucket load because it is such an easy method of trying to monetize content online. Adsense has gone from being the untapped goldmine of the internet to being on the verge of death but in fact Google Adsense is just one way you can monetize a website or blog. The real beauty of Adsense though, is that it is a method that can be used by anyone - you don't have to be an uber geek to be able to make money from having Google's context relevant ads on your site or blog. This is great for people like work at home mums because you can take advantage of Google's freewebsite creator and blogging services AND get some Adsense revenue for your efforts, providing you can get the traffic.
But how do you ad this code to your project? Well, a new video demo from Google shows you how to do this - the best way for beginners is to have it auto inserted so you don't have to worry about html code ... and you get that with Blogger. It used to be a bit hard to get Adsense to appear where you wanted it to in Blogger, but it seems they have changed the way you edit your layout, so I will need to go back to Blogger.com and check that out.
Adding code to the Google Page Creator service is a little more tricky but still fairly easy due to the interface that the Page Creator gives you - i.e. simply clicking on 'show html' or similar type links and just paste your code from the Adsense site.
